Usually, at this point in an election year, we are speculating on the impact the presidential election will have on the housing market. Suffice it to say that that issue is way down the list behind COVID19, price of oil below $32/barrel, the stock market entering bear territory for the first time in 11 years and the lack of toilet paper on our grocer's shelf.

With all the bad news this week, you would expect a slow down in activity, however, listing and contracting activity in the Heights were off only slightly considering this was a pre-spring break week. Citywide, Compass Real Estate Houston reported a similar number of showings week over week. However, the coming days will be the test that pits low interest rates, low inventory and high demand against the worsening spread of COVID19.

TIPS FOR HOUSE HUNTING DURING A PANDEMIC
  • Disinfect your hands upon entering and exiting a home
  • Keep a respectable distance from others and no handshaking
  • Sneeze or cough into a tissue
  • Avoid touching surfaces with unwashed hands
  • If you are exhibiting any sign of illness, stay home
  • Consider virtual tours with your agent using Facetime
